Rumors and leaks surrounding the upcoming iPhone8 unit have made the rounds over the past couple of months. And as usual, the Apple Company responded with silence, neither confirming nor denying the now public pieces of information. However, that all changed when an apple assembler recently confirmed two key features about the new iPhone8 that will surely get everyone talking.
A few days ago, an announcement from Winstron’s President and CEO Robert Hwang was released on Nikke Asian Review. In the said statement, Mr. Hwang confirmed two reports regarding the new iPhone8 unit; first is that it is waterproof and the second is that wireless charging will finally be introduced on the upcoming handset. During a shareholder’s meeting of the company, Mr. Hwang said that though there have been little to no changes in the assembly process of iPhone8 units, some alterations and different tests must be done to make sure its two new features will work properly.
He also expects that his company will be able to ship more iPhone units this year than 2016. Mr. Hwang has mentioned that since the labor costs in China will go even higher this year, plans to resort to automation were already placed on the table.
According to Arthur Liao of Fubon Securities and Jeff Pu of Yuanta Investment Consulting, Winstron will split the bulk iPhone8 orders with companies such as Foxconn Technology Group and Hon Hai Precision industry. Winstron also makes iPhone6 and iPhone SE phone units in India, but Mr. Hwang himself revealed that those two units will only have a little contribution to the company’s overall revenue. And with the confirmation of these two new iPhone8 features along with the previously announced edgeless 5.5 OLED display, Apple fans everywhere became more understandably excited for what the new unit can offer once it launches later this year.
